My role as VP for External Affairs, building connections across student clubs and colleges — and learning from Rider alumni.
Connecting beyond the classroom
As D.A.I.S.’s VP for External Affairs at Rider University, I help plan collaborations with other student clubs and colleges.
From Rider to Google
I attended this alumni speaker session on October 19, 2026, at Sweigart Hall. Sarah Kim D’Addario and Jack D’Addario shared their career paths and perspectives on data, AI, finance, and adapting professionally. It was an opportunity to learn from Rider alumni and connect with other students.
Meet the speakers
Two Rider alumni brought perspectives from technology and finance. As introduced in the event flyer:
What I took away
The conversation reminded me to give my experience the credit it deserves and keep building while I apply for opportunities.
- Explain the value of my experience. Campus work, personal projects, and club leadership give me concrete examples to discuss. I want to communicate my contributions clearly without downplaying them.
- Keep documenting and learning. My portfolio is a way to show what I have done, what I learned, and how I am growing—not just list skills.
- Build relationships beyond applications. I want to connect with alumni, local cybersecurity communities, and potential mentors while thinking about my long-term career goals.
- Apply with confidence. I do not want my school's size or a difficult interview to stop me from pursuing an opportunity. Each conversation is a chance to practice explaining my experience and improve.
My next step is to make my leadership responsibilities clearer on my résumé and keep practicing how I present my work.
